Grendon Village Hall
Chairman’s annual report – March 2021
As you may remember from last year’s report we had an incredibly successful 2019 with our greatest annual income for many years. January and February last year were even better than 2019 and an even more successful year was expected. But then along came COVID-19 and everything stopped, other than a few of our regular weekly classes in September and October before further lockdowns!!!!
Unfortunately, little else has happened in 2020. We had to cancel our very popular Barn Dance last year along with other fundraising plans.
The committee spent a considerable time during August preparing to re-open under COVID rules but of course it was to no avail.
We do not know what 2021 holds for us but the Village Hall will be ready when the country opens up.
I would like to say a very big thankyou to all of the 2020 committee for their sterling work – Pauline and Trevor, John and Maureen, Yvonne and Paul and of course Angie.
I would also like to thank Jan Munns for her hard work keeping the hall spotless, and Peter Bailey for mowing the grass.
After eight years Angie and I will not be standing for the committee this year. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time working for the VH and are very proud to see how it has blossomed from a black and rather run-down hall to a bright refurbished “place to meet” where people want to come to hold parties, classes and community gatherings.
A tremendous amount of time has been spent, especially over the last four years, making this transformation and I would like to thank the committee for all their support and hard work. This would not have been possible without them.
There will be vacancies on the committee this year so if you would like to be involved in taking the village hall forward and have some fun doing it then please get in touch with me or any other of the trustees.
Angie and I wish the VH all the best for the future and they can be assured we will be there to support them.
